Home to over 4,500 exotic animals from 800 species and ranging over 55 acres of lush park land, the Houston Zoo brings a whole world of wildlife to the heart of the city. The Natural Encounters building offers seven uniquely interactive environments under one roof while the Wortham World of Primates provides a number of ways to view many different primate species. The Wildlife Carousel and John P. McGovern Children's Zoo are especially tailored to the needs of a younger crowd, with hands-on experiences and activities. Located in Hermann Park in the Museum District, the zoo is next to Rice University and near the popular Houston Museum of Natural Science.
Open daily early Mar - early Nov: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.; early Nov - early Mar: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Adults $10; Seniors (65+) $5.75; Children (2-11) $5; Children under 2 are free.
