The Byzantine Fresco Chapel Museum offers visitors a unique opportunity in the Western Hemisphere; a chance to see intact Byzantine frescoes from the 13th century. Stolen by thieves in Cyprus in the mid-1980s, the pieces of the carved-up fresco were saved by The Menil Foundation and set in a new facility in Houston, where the architectural design provides a superb backdrop to the art on display. Part of, and located next to, The Menil Collection, the museum is near the Rothko Chapel in Houston's Museum District.
Open Wed. - Sun. 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Free.
