DENTIST'S OFFICE

Used this dental office 3 times and gave up. The admin staff was incompetent and could not properly track appointments. There was confusion around 2 of my visits. The second incident involved a claim being denied by insurance because the visits were not properly spaced. (Have to be 6 months apart - mine were 5.) While I'm also at fault for not noticing it, the dental office has software to make sure this doesn't happen and they book all their appointments at that interval as this is a standard insurance requirement. While I didn't expect to be refunded for the mishap, I did expect a credit on-non insurable procedures - example, 20% off on a teeth whitening, etc. (Or better - the dentist had been pushing hard to sell me a $500 night guard - it was $400 my first visit, and $500 on my second visit. I'm pretty sure there's a healthy profit margin on a piece of plastic that costs $500…) I never asked for a credit, and one was never offered. The admin person's comment was that something had gone wrong at the time of the booking, that nothing could be done about it now, and that 'this was something we can move on from, or can't move on from.' So I moved on - to a different dentist. If the dental office isn't competent enough to schedule routine appointments, I don't trust them to be poking around with tools in my mouth. A coworker also abandoned using this location after figuring that the dentist was too aggressive in recommending dental procedures. In hindsight, this attitude this seems consistent with booking routine maintenance 5 months apart as opposed to six (you get to bill more in the long run) and the jump in the cost of a night guard. It's a big city - if you're looking for a dentist, you can do better than this place.
